The amount of equity available for a home equity loan or home equity line of credit is determined by the Combined Loan-to-Value (CLTV) ratio of the home and the ratio requirements of the lender. The CLTV ratio is the total amount of all loans secured by a property divided by the property's appraised value. The size of a home equity loan or line of credit will also depend on the loan-to-value requirements of the lender. The maximum loan amount for a home equity loan or home equity line of credit for an owner-occupied property is $500,000. If the calculator suggests a higher value, you can still apply for up to $500,000.
